Governors play a vital role in the development of the school. Their main role is to ensure there is a strategic direction and to hold the Headteacher to account. To fulfil this, they must ensure clarity of vision, values, and objectives for the school, agreeing the school improvement strategy with priorities and targets, and monitor this through visits and meetings. Governors monitor the educational performance of the school and progress towards agreed targets through the performance management of the Headteacher and by engaging with stakeholders. Their role as critical friends who support and challenge, helps contribute to school self-evaluation and meaningful developmental conversations. The school employs a Clerk to the Governors to keep accurate minutes of all discussions and to advise the Board of their statutory responsibilities.
