Extended Schools policy 2024/2025

Our Extended Schools provide high quality, affordable childcare for primary school children attending West Buckland Primary School and Nursery.

Breakfast Club and After School Club are open five days a week (Monday to Friday) during term-time only. The times of the sessions are:
• Breakfast session: 07.45 – 08.45
• After-school session: 15.10 – 18.00

Fees are charged at £4.00 for Breakfast Club. After School Club is £5 for a half session until 4:30pm and £10 for a full session until 6pm. Children joining from an extra-curricular club at 4:30pm will be charged a half session fee of £5.

Extended Schools does not operate on Bank Holidays or school INSET Days. The after school provision is closed on the last day of the Autumn Term (before Christmas) and Summer Term (end of school year).

Children will be able to attend Extended Schools as soon as a booking has been made using the My Child At School app.
We will accept temporary or occasional bookings as long as there are places available. If a temporary place has been booked and is no longer required the place will still be charged for.

We regret that we are unable to provide a refund for any sessions that have been pre-booked.
In the event that the whole school is closed (e.g. due to extreme/adverse weather conditions or in the event of industrial action) then Extended Schools will not operate. In these circumstances any pre-booked and paid for sessions will be credited to a future date, either within the same half term period or to the next half term.

We offer a wide range of fun, simulating and relaxing activities including outdoor play, arts and crafts, gardening and cooking. We believe that play should be challenging, simulating and provide opportunities for personal and social development but above all we want the children to have fun. We therefore aim to strike a balance between structured and unstructured play opportunities encouraging the children to choose for themselves what they want do.
