GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a piece of legislation which governs how people’s personal data is processed and kept safe, and the legal rights individuals have in relation to their own data. ‘Personal data’ means information that can identify an individual. The regulation applies to all schools.

What does this mean for you and your child?

  • The GDPR sets out the key principles that all personal data must be processed in line with.
  • Data must be: processed lawfully, fairly and transparently; collected for specific, explicit and legitimate purposes; limited to what is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed; accurate and kept up to date; held securely; only retained for as long as is necessary for the reasons it was collected.
  • There are also stronger rights for individuals regarding their own data. The individual’s rights include: to be informed about how their data is used, to have access to their data, to rectify incorrect information, to have their data erased, to restrict how their data is used, to move their data from one organisation to another, and to object to their data being used at all

  • We have Risk Assessments for the apps and platforms we use that require any level of data
  • We have a process and expert support for dealing with Subject Access Requests

How do we use data?

  • Bromcom/MCAS – this is our management software and stores details on all pupils and parent. Parents have their own account; staff access is secured and uses authentication.
  • CPOMS – is used for recording any safeguarding or behaviour concerns on children’s profiles; only staff can access and this is secured and uses authentication.
  • Famly – is used to register, track progress and record observations for our Nursery children; parents have their own login for their child’s page and to pay invoices.
  • SeeSaw – is used to share work of children (on both their own and whole class profiles) with parents; children log in using a class code, parents have their own login for their child’s page.
  • TTRS/Numbots – is used for all school aged children to complete their Maths homework; each has their own login.
  • SpellingShed – is used for older school aged children to complete their Spelling homework; each has their own login.
