What is Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is additional funding policy for schools to help raise attainment of eligible pupils and ensure they reach their full academic potential.

Why is it important?
It has been identified Nationally that eligible pupils underperform in comparison to students from less disadvantaged backgrounds. The purpose of the Pupil Premium is to help school provide targeted support to these pupils to enable them to achieve in school. Universally the funding is used to subsidise paid for clubs and school trips, visitors and residential. It is also used to support with Free School Meals (FSM) and provide a uniform grant per child per academic year.
Who is entitled?
Children whose parent is a serving member of the Armed Forces.
Children who are looked after by the Local Authority.
Children who have a special Guardianship or permanent residency order.
Families in receipt of Income Support
Families in receipt of Child Tax Credit (subject to terms and conditions assessed by the Inland Revenue)
Families receiving Income-based Job Seekers Allowance.
Families receiving Employment Support Allowance.
Families receiving Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit.
Families receiving support under Part VI of the Immigration Asylum Act 1999.
How is it used?
The school can decide how to use the funding and are accountable for reporting that to the DfE and Oftsed. At West Buckland we use it to provide and support the following:

SEMH work
Learning breaks
Family support
Intervention programs
Speech & language support
Phonics catch-up
Tutoring
